The Incredible Years Parenting Group

Parenting is difficult, even in the best circumstances. But, the lack of education, poverty and community violence experienced by many low-income families dramatically increase children’s behavior difficulties and parental frustrations. To help parents around Monroe County, The United Way of Greater Rochester has funded the award-winning Incredible Years curriculum in six agencies, selecting Mt. Hope Family Center as the lead agency.

We offer this 14-week class free of charge 4-6 times a year to parents and caregivers of children ages 2-8 involved with the Monroe County Department of Human Services. Through group discussions and role play, they learn constructive ways for setting effective limits, increasing their child’s learning and social skills, managing behavior positively, and actually enjoying time with their children.
