Ruby Slipper Gala
Our annual fundraising gala brings together the community for an evening of great food, lively auctions and surprises to support the families and programs of Mt. Hope Family Center. This has become one of the most fun events in Rochester’s busy spring calendar and featured both years in Rochester magazine.
Individual and Corporate underwriting is necessary to make it possible for more people to attend and all the proceeds to directly benefit our families and programs. We also welcome donations of unique auction items.

There’s No Place Like HOPE Award
Each year we honor an individual or individuals for “supporting the mission of Mt. Hope Family Center through an understanding and heartfelt commitment to helping at-risk children and families succeed.” Past recipients have been:
2009 Recipients
Paul J. Burgett, Ph.D.
Vice President and General Secretary, Sr. Advisor to the President, University of Rochester. During his 8-year tenure on Mt. Hope Family Center’s Advisory Board, he’s proved a tireless champion of our work and immeasurable support during a transitioning relationship with The University.
Jacqueline Cady
Chair Emeritus, Early Childhood Development Initiative. Since 1990, she’s advocated for early child care and education and helped found the Early Childhood Development Initiative (ECDI), an alliance of over 20 agencies whose work supports quality early education.
2008 Recipients
Cindy Lewis, LMSW, ACSW
Director of Child and Family Services, Monroe County Department of Human Services, a passionate advocate for providing theoretically-informed and evidence-based services to children who have been victims of child abuse and neglect.
Frederick Borrelli
Former Vice Chairman of Finance & Administration Department of Surgery, University of Rochester Medical Center and currently the Associate Chair and Chief of Administration, Department of Surgery, Yale School of Medicine. Fred served Mt. Hope Family Center for many years as The Center’s administrator, Advisory Board member and Golf Tournament Chair.
