Our Program Ranks as One of the Top Developmental Psychology Programs in North America! A study by Byrnes & McNamara (2001) published in Developmental Review evaluated the quality of 97 North American doctoral programs in the developmental sciences and ranked The University of Rochester Developmental Psychology Program as among the top quarter of programs in the country. More specifically, our program ranked:

  • 3rd in Faculty Scholarly Productivity (research productivity)
  • 3rd in Research Impact (citations rates of faculty)
  • 7th in Journal Editing and Editorial Board Membership
  • 24th in Grant Funding (tied for 2nd when ranked in terms of proportion of faculty securing active major research grants)

One of the most important indices for evaluating graduate programs in developmental psychology is their ability to place graduate students in top academic and research positions after graduation. In this regard, our recent graduates have fared very well in securing prestigious scientific and academic jobs. Our most recent graduates are currently:

  • a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Ohio State University,
  • a post doctoral research scientist at Syracuse University,
  • a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri, and
  • a post doctoral research scientist at the Institute for Juvenile Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
