Research Interests
My research focuses on cognitive and neuropsychological development in children with autism spectrum disorders and other non-autism developmental disabilities. Previous research has explored early developmental patterns of visuospatial disembedding and abstraction abilities in these populations. Current research is evaluating the relationship between these previously identified cognitive patterns and social functioning in children with autism spectrum disorders and Down syndrome.
My clinical interests focus on children (from infancy to adolescence) with neurodevelopmental disorders and general mental health concerns. Clinical work in assessment has included diagnostic evaluations in a general child psychiatry setting, diagnostic and cognitive assessments specifically for children with autism spectrum disorders, and cognitive evaluations for infants and toddlers who spent time in a neonatal intensive care unit after birth. Clinical treatment work has included individual and family therapy with children and adolescents, social skills group therapy (for both children with general social skills difficulties and children with autism spectrum disorders), and behavioral consultation for children with autism spectrum disorders.
